For the first time in quite a few years I’ve actually paid attention to the sales. I usually just avoid the living daylights out of them as the constant messy rails and genuine craziness of the other sale shoppers makes me want to just hide in a corner, cry and eat cake. BUT this year I decided to brave them and came up with a couple of bargains.
I’ve been focusing on holiday shopping mainly and I always try to choose quite classic pieces, items that I know will last a while and be versatile. Although I would never say summer is my favourite season (aside from ice cream and sunshine and holidays and all that), buying summer clothes is exciting. I’m a little obsessed with light-weight, easy to wear, day-to-night summer dresses. I also should also be honest, I have an addiction to ASOS and add things to my basket on a weekly basis.
I’m currently sat here, in a grey not sure what the weathers doing Reading, with a cupcake for breakfast – it is Friday!!! I don’t always eat cupcakes for breakfast…promise, but I’m also sat daydreaming about our upcoming holiday and counting down the days until we fly.
You may have spotted from my recent travel posts; Mexico You’re Amazing and Europe with Kids that we like to do something a little different and we need a good balance between pool and beach time, to adventure and exploring. So, we’re flying off to Sicily for one week and staying in a gorgeous villa booked with Clickstay, then for the second week we’re taking a short flight over to Barcelona and mooching our way around the south of Spain…hence my excitement!
Back to shopping. I do find shopping in ‘real life’ far too time consuming. I’m the type of shopper that expects things to jump out at me so my patience never really lasts that long, hence why I always return to my trusty online favourites; ASOS, Topshop, and French Connection.
This is my favourite swimming costume which unfortunately isn’t available anymore, but you can buy it in black and I’ve added it in the gallery below.
My thinking this year? Floaty light dresses, cute slogan t-shirts, loose trousers and cami’s and the perfect airport bag…mission now accomplished.
I’ve gone through all types of bags which are suitable for the airport. I need to take my MacBook, camera and other bits so it has to be strong and it has to be nice too so backpacks win every time for me. This Hershal strawberry-ice one really caught my eye as I can wear it with my Converse, light jeans and a cute t-shirt. Pretty sure it would be more suited to someone ten years younger then me..but…I like it! It’s 100% cotton and super durable. I have to be comfy at the airport, there’s no teetering around in heels for me.
Speaking of bags. One of my most favourite buys is my Ralph Lauren suede tassel bag. I’ve had it for around 4 years now and it comes out every summer and is in my case for every holiday. You can’t get the exact one anymore but this one in the gallery below is pretty much identical and whilst still pricey, and most definitely a treat, it’s half -price right now!
My particular favourite dress right now is this black polka-dot Whistles bardot dress, a tiny bit pricey, but the fabric and cut is super flattering, it can be dressed up or down and will always make me feel nice when wearing. I’m so going to get my moneys worth as I just know it’s going to be a firm favourite in my wardrobe.
The sunglasses were a birthday present from my boyfriend. I usually go for classic black/brown styles so wanted something a little more out-there! I can’t wait to wear them.
I hope you’ve managed to get some lovely summer staples, what’s you favourite shop? Do you have a favourite item you’ve bought this year? Do you have a staple summer piece?
