FAQ

How long have you been blogging?

I first opened my cake company Cuppies ‘n’ Cream in October 2011 and then started my blog, Hello Cuppies, a year or so later. Albeit very naive and I didn’t really understand what I was doing or even where to begin.  It’s been a huge learning curve and if you read some of the initial posts (blushes in embarrassment) you’ll see exactly what I mean. I have been tempted to remove or even update them, but I decided against this as I think it’s nice to see progress and reminds me to just keep going.

I do love to blog though, I find it therapeutic, motivational and a good way to meet new friends. I try to keep my content original, unique and always honest.

What is your blog about?

My two prominent subjects are travel and baking. In 2016 I made the decision to expand my blog and include new topics aside from baking purely because I love writing and realised that I wanted to share more.

My son is my pride and joy but I also am well aware that being a parent isn’t all fun and games so writing about my parenting experiences with Coby has actually proved to be quite therapeutic!

I grew up in the beautiful city of York until moving out at 17/18. Before this I hadn’t been very far at all, a school trip to France and a few cheesy hen parties in Greece just about covered it. And although I dipped my toe in the water with a few European holidays it wasn’t until I met my boyfriend Steve in 2010 that I truly got bitten by the travel bug. In the time we’ve been together we’ve managed to fit in a lot of travel so it only seemed natural to include this on my blog.

What’s your favourite recipe?

There are definitely too many to choose from, it depends on what mood I am in! Whilst I have an incredibly sweet tooth I sometimes love a bit of savoury too.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Easy – Italy. No matter where I go in the world and how much I love to visit new destinations Italy is where I feel most happy.

Do you have a favourite cupcake flavour?

Ooh, tricky one…I do love a Red Velvet.  So much so I have my recipe here.  I also love anything fruit-based; strawberry flavoured, passion fruit, raspberry… something that adds a little kick!

How many children do you have?

One son, Coby aged 14 and one step-daughter, Lucy aged 13. I occasionally write about parenting to add a little variety to my blog. I also write about various lifestyle type posts. You can use the category filter on the top menu to section these out.

Do you teach baking or decorating classes?

I do, I love to teach and found that it can be very rewarding spending time with like-minded bakers.  At the end of every class, it is so nice to see how happy people are with their work.  For me information please read here.

Do you have a Twitter? A Facebook page? Instagram?

I do, I have both. Huge social media addict fan! Follow me @HelloCuppies on Twitter and like Cuppies n Cream on Facebook here. Instagram can be found here.

What kind of camera do you use?

I currently use a Canon M5 for my photos, although I have nothing against taking a quick snap on my iPhone 8+ either because I never know when I might need to photograph something when I’m out and about.

The Canon is super versatile, and fairly compact, and has a great mirror-less function that takes clear bright shots even in a badly lit area. It’s probably fair to say that I love photography and can really see my progress from when I started to where I am now.

I just tried one of your recipes. Can I post about it on my personal blog? Is it OK if I share your recipe?

Of course, I’m always thrilled when I see and hear that someone has tried a recipe and would only be too happy for you to share it with your readers and followers. You can reprint the recipe on a personal blog, and I would very much appreciate it if you link back to Hello Cuppies as your source. I’ll always return the favour and like/share your post too.

I write for a newspaper or corporate blog. Can I post/write about it? Is it OK if I reprint your recipe? Is it OK if I use one of your photos?

Linking to me at any time is super flattering and always welcome. Using a recipe or photo is also totally fine but please send me an email asking first. I always love to work with and collaborate with other sites and publications, so please talk to me if you have any questions at all.

Can I send you something to review?

Of course, I’m always willing to look at every opportunity so long as it fits in with the theme of my blog and my readers can relate. Email me for my postal address.

Are you PR friendly?

100% yes. I’ve worked with some lovely PR companies (read more here)and have built up some valued trusted relationships too. I’m always open to new opportunities whether its a press trip, product review, sponsored post, social media campaigns and I do also consider the occasional guest post too.
