Baking conversions made easy

Baking Conversions

Writing a blog also means I spend quite a bit of time reading other beautiful and inspiring baking blogs.  Quite a few of these blogs are American based and often use different terminology and conversions than what we are used to.  Now I don’t mind baking with cups and actually sometimes find it lots easier but I do understand that feeling when you find a recipe that looks amazing but you are faced with a list of measurements and temperatures you don’t understand! Or maybe you’ve moved from your home country to a foreign country that uses different measurements than you are used to.  Either way all bakers crave consistency between batches of biscuits or accuracy when making a tricky cake, and we all know that weighing ingredients correctly is the key to success. Baking is not very forgiving. It is a science – nerd alert 😉

UK measurements

Being from the UK, I predominantly use grams and milliliters (ml) when baking and I’ve noticed from my stats I get quite a few international readers and thought it would be handy to list all the different conversions and name alternatives.   I’d also recommend buying some digital scales where you can alternate between grams, ounces, milliliters and fluid ounces.  It will make converting things so much easier for you.
